The Bad Idea Brainstorm

We’ve all heard about brainstorming. I’m sure you have initiated it or been part of it plenty of times. Were you told that no idea is wrong, let the idea freeflow, and good ideas will surface sooner rather than later? Probably. That is how brainstorming is typically done – and it works very well.

Yet, if you would like to have a bit more fun and do things differently for a change, here is an idea: The bad idea brainstorm.

I read about this in a book called “Humor, Seriously: Why Humor Is a Secret Weapon in Business and Life (And how anyone can harness it. Even you.)” by Jennifer Aaker.

The bad idea brainstorm will get you laughter – and that can be some great team bonding and relieve stress as well.

Yet, there is more to the story. Humor activates the creativity center of the brain and encourages mental gymnastics.

Humor-driven gatherings can free us from the idea that what we come up with must be perfect or serious. They can lead to much more innovation and visionary ideas than the good ole brainstorming we often do.

By the way, it occurred to me that Bad Idea Brainstorm sessions are a form of Brilliance Extraction™. Wow!

I’m Curious

How do you feel about doing a”Bad Idea Brainstorm” with your team or even with your family?
