Achieving Personal Growth While Being True To Yourself

Achieving Personal Growth While Being True To Yourself

Now, here’s a question for you: Can you achieve personal growth AND be true to yourself?

Transcript

Now, here’s a question for you: Is being comfortable with who you are opposing the idea of your personal growth?

What Do I Mean By That?

Sometimes we think that we’re not quite what other people expect us to be. Maybe we feel compelled to pretend that we are who they want us to be. That seems to be akin to putting on a mask.

What Is The Problem With That?

The problem is that we attract people who like the mask, but maybe they do not like us as we are really. The truth is that there always will be, no matter who you are, people who like you and people who don’t like who you really are. So, you might as well attract the people who like you for who you are – instead of those who like you for some mask you are wearing.

At the same time, there is the question of personal growth because personal growth uncovers new possibilities of who else we could be. We can invent new possibilities and further ourselves in the direction we want. It may seem to be a yin-yang, and maybe it is, but I think it’s a happy yin-yang. We can be who we are at this moment, and we can uncover possibilities of who else we want to become as we move forward.
